Bascome v Goater – clash of the day
North Village v Boulevard
The clash of the day!
Both teams have title aspirations and a win for either side will send a message to their rivals that they are the side who will decide the title race.
Village are a side that usually doesn't pick up the pace until the second half of the season, while Boulevard goes hard every match, so something will have to give. Having put paid to Eagles' unbeaten run last week in a team effort, Boulevard will look to add another big scalp to the bag and make in-roads to PHC's lead at the top.
Village were inspired by player/coach Shaun Goater midweek when he leapt off the bench to spur the side to a 3-3 draw with PHC after being down 3-0 early in the second half.
If the striking department doesn't wake up this weekend, it may Goater to the rescue again.
Prediction: 2-2
Devonshire Colts v PHC
There seems no end in sight for Colts and their consecutive winless record that stretches back to the first game of last season. They have gone winless thus far this year and with no real scoring threat besides Aljame Zuill and one wonders if they will get three points this year.
They played well in spurts in their 2-0 loss to Rangers last weekend but will need a huge improvement if they are to get over PHC. The league leaders have been the surprise of the season so far with their play and hunger for success.
Kyle Lightbourne's men are looking very impressive in the opening matches and even a half-hearted performance this weekend should see them remain on top of the charts.
Prediction: PHC 3-0
Southampton Rangers v Devonshire Cougars
Rangers will try and continue their impressive form that saw them see off Devonshire Colts last week at home.
Next up at the Oval are champions Cougars who have found their way after a slow start to the season.
The Southampton club has shown everyone that there won't be a sophomore slump after staying in the top flight for a second season.
Last year the two sides produced some thrilling moments, and the hosts will have to try to duplicate their performances from last term.
The champions will be attempting to bounce back from their Dudley Eve loss to Parish, albeit having a makeshift side on the pitch during the midweek loss.
They can take some pride in getting themselves off the deck after an opening day loss and will look to make it three wins on the trot.
Prediction: Cougars 2-1
Dandy Town v Hamilton Parish
A tale of two teams looking for consistency as both have had indifferent starts to their seasons.
For Town, it will be a warm welcome to play at home after losing three consecutive games in all competitions and will look to end that against winless Parish. Their strike force has not found the net in 180 minutes, and after losing to two title contenders in the last two league outings has put further emphasis on three points against Parish.
Parish recorded their first win in any competitions after their encouraging 1-0 display over Cougars in midweek.
If Angelo Cannonier can continue his form this match should be closer than the 8-1 they took last week at the hands of North Village!
Prediction: Town 3-1
Somerset Trojans v Somerset Eagles
Trojans will enjoy the first Somerset derby of the season at the friendly confines of Somerset Cricket Club when they host Eagles under the lightstonight. They let three points slip last week against PHC after being up 2-0 only to let the lead slip.
Someone else must step up besides Adrian Burrows and Tahj Wade if the side is to have a fighting chance in this match. Eagles will be trying to shake off their loss last week to Boulevard that saw them fall off the top of the league standings.
They won't get any sympathy from their rivals, especially since the emergence of the White Hill Field club into the top flight.
Prediction: 1-1
