Bermuda pair in action for Coventry
Clarke came on as a second half substitute for Coventry in a friendly match against the touring Kuwait national team yesterday.
Kuwait won the match 1-0.
The Bermuda internationals are on trial with the English Premier Division Club and Paynter played in a midfield role, lining up with both first team and reserve players.
Former Liverpool and England defender Phil Neal has just been hired by new Coventry manager Bobby Gould and is in charge of the coaching at the club.
This weekend Coventry travel to Scotland with a party of 20 for three friendly matches against Morton on July 20, Clydebank on the 22nd and Airdrie on the 25th and Paynter and Clarke are hoping to be invited to make the trip.
In the first week of August they are to play in a four-team tournament which also involves Birmingham City, Real Majorca of Spain and a club from Italy.
Bermuda's other four trialists are also settling down well at their Fourth Division clubs. Striker Kyle Lightbourne and midfielder Albie Smith are with Scarborough while goalkeeper Dwayne (Streaker) Adams and defender Shawn Smith are trying out with Crewe Alexandra.
