Goater's double not enough

Saturday when he had a late penalty saved by the Bristol City goalkeeper as the visitors hung on for a 3-2 win at Rotherham's ground.

Goater, with his sights set on 30 goals this season, opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a superb volley into the top corner.

However, the Rotherham defence, which conceded seven goals away to Wrexham last week, had a tough time keeping out City's front line as the visitors equalised in the 26th minute and then went in front with goals in the 64th and 65th minutes.

Goater netted his 17th goal of the season in the 84th minute to make it 3-2.

He remains joint top scorer in the Second Division, but the loss dropped Rotherham into the relegation zone as Kyle Lightbourne's Walsall moved ahead of them with a 1-1 home draw against Blackpool. Rotherham are now fifth from bottom.
