minute clincher -- as Bristol City won their derby match with Bristol Rovers 2-1 yesterday.

The away win kept City in the hunt for promotion via the play-offs in the English Second Division, lifting them back into ninth place, one point ahead of Kyle Lightbourne's Walsall who lost 1-0 to Watford on Saturday.

City took the lead against Rovers in the 31st minute through Australian Paul Agostino before Goater's strike made it 2-0. Rovers pulled one back in the 81st minute, but the loss leaves them one place ahead of the relegation zone.

Goater, who netted 24 goals for Rotherham last season, will be hoping to notch his 20th of this term on Tuesday night against his former team, who are bottom of the division and certain to be relegated back to the Third Division.

Lightbourne, too, is hoping to reach the 20-goal mark as he also tries to keep his team in with a promotion chance. Lightbourne joined Goater on 18 goals recently when he netted Walsall's first in a 2-2 home draw with Shrewsbury.

Tomorrow Walsall are at home to mid-table Blackpool before entertaining another promotion hopeful, Burnley, on Saturday.
