Stamps make youthful impression
Christmas Commemorative Stamp. The stamps are the result of a student competition, drawing entrants across the Island's public and private school systems.
Students from all grades were asked to submit artwork based on their ideas of the celebration of Christmas in Bermuda.
Ten-year-old Clare Critchley's picture of a lizard dancing is on the 25-cent stamp. "Welcoming Arms'' by 12-year-old Cameron Rowling was used for the 40-cent stamp and the first day cover design of a moongate was drawn by Ian Watkinson. The remaining designs will be used as Christmas stamps in 1999.
PHILATELIC FELLOWS -- L-R: Postmaster General Clevelyn Critchlow, Clare Critchley, Cameron Rowling, Art Teacher Mark Beasley, Ian Watkinson, and Yvonne Smith were on hand Wednesday for the introduction of the new Christmas stamps.
