What all inclusive means

Bermuda tourism, offering a range of prices and price structures that allowed the visitor to choose how he wished to pay for his stay at the hotel.

But in 1987, after the premises had closed for some months for major renovations, Trust House Forte announced that the premises would now be known as the Harmony Club and also revealed a radical new financial plan for all guests -- the All-Inclusive Plan.

The plan, unique to Bermuda, was given a cautious nod of approval from Bermuda's tourism experts, who watched closely to see what sort of success the new marketing ploy would enjoy. A plan that also contained a unique restriction: no guests under the age of 18.

The plan has been a definite success and even in these lean financial times, Harmony Club is certain that the steps they took some four years ago have led them in the right direction.

What, in practical terms, does this marketing phrase mean? More than people think. If a visitor has paid his or her all inclusive charges before leaving home, then he will not have to pay for: The flight The taxi trip from the airport The champagne in the room the day you arrive Any meals at Harmony Club Admission to The Club and Oasis Green fees at four Bermuda golf courses Use of Elbow Beach's beach Tips to the staff.

The only things that you would pay for are phone calls made from your room and for any laundry. And, of course, the one cost that is out of the Club's control -- the airport departure tax.
