The Regiment's recruitment campaign is concentrating on the fun and camaraderie aspects of the service.

The campaign says: "Hoteliers, bankers ... even Premiers have more fun in a uniform.'' Their advert includes a picture of Premier the Hon. Sir John Swan in combat fatigues.

And prospective volunteers are being invited to spend a night at Warwick Camp to get a taste of Regiment life.

Major Bernie Gibbons said: "It is similar to the UK campaign for the Territorial Army. We have concentrated recently on recruiting women but we now want to encourage both men and women.

"People do have a good time and enjoy their involvement with the Regiment.

There is an enjoyable side to army life.'' Major Gibbons said that volunteers are invited to the camp on December 12 at 2 p.m. until noon on December 13. They will supply the food, the fun and the bed for the night.

He said: "We will show people the camp and different aspects of what the Regiment does.

"There will be a social evening on Saturday and then on Sunday we will provide some excitement.

"A lot of people are sceptical about the Bermuda Regiment and this will give them a chance to find out what it is really like. The food is very good as well.''
