The family of a man murdered last week in a case of mistaken identity yesterday urged the public to help them find closure.

Krishunna Outerbridge, the wife of Jordan Outerbridge, said: “I just want justice for my husband because he did not deserve this and I want answers.

“I want answers for our 18-month-old daughter for when she turns 18 and she wants to know what happened to her dad. I want to be able to tell her, as well as my ten-year-old daughter, who is his stepdaughter.

“We just need the closure, even if this is not a chapter in my life that I want to close.”

Mr Outerbridge, 33, was fatally shot at around 10.30pm on April 6 near the junction of Ord Road and Tribe Road No. 2 as he walked home from a card game.

Mrs Outerbridge said there were “no words” to describe the impact the tragedy has had on the family.

She said: “I can’t stop thinking about our 18-month-old daughter who cannot remember, see or understand how much her father loved her.

“This is just a nightmare and just replays in my mind all day, every day. I’m lost for words because my husband is such a great man.

“He is someone’s son, husband, brother, grandson, and I just feel like this isn’t fair to us and his family.”

Mrs Outerbridge said the couple had spent the day at home together and they last spoke just before he left to play cards with his friends.

She said: “As far as the saying ’wrong place, wrong time’, he wasn’t at the wrong place.

“It may have been a bad time coming out, but he came out to meet curfew and come to his family.”

Mrs Outerbridge added: “I do believe there are people that know exactly what happened and I have found that here in Bermuda, especially our younger generation, they don’t like to come forward.

“They don’t like to talk about what they know of situations like that, but I urge and plead and beg if you know something, say something. Even if it’s not to police or the media directly.”

Acting Detective Inspector Jason Smith said the murder was a case of mistaken identity and, while the police have received some information about who the intended target might have been, it had not been confirmed.

He said officers were looking for anyone who might have seen two men on a motorcycle in the area around the time of the shooting or half an hour before.

“The rider was shorter in height than the passenger,” Mr Smith said. “What stands out about the passenger, who was the shooter in this incident, is he was wearing a royal blue fitted rain-type jacket.

“We are aware that the motorcycle in question, at approximately 10.09pm the night of the murder, travelled along the Railway Trail past the residence where is now the scene of the shooting.

“We know that the same bike came back at approximately 10.30pm at which time the passenger got off the bike and shot Mr Outerbridge.”

He called on anyone who was travelling along Ord Road at about that time and saw two people fitting the description of the suspects to make contact.

Mr Smith added: “That is of vital importance.”

He also urged anyone who lives along Ord Road with CCTV footage to reach out.
