Dear Sir,
Despite your Sports Correspondent's well written article on the "snubbing" of Bermudian Umpires I actually had no problem with the steps taken by the Cricket Board or Clubs.
Noting the lack of public outcry or usual BIU work stoppages, I was just wondering if we couldn't take this one step further and bring in a foreign Premier and get rid of the local model. This could be done on a trial basis (work permit of course permitting).
There are additional benefits to consider. For example, I'm sure we could get someone twice as competent for half the pay; and we could just ship them back when they start getting on everyone's nerves. If the trial run for a foreign premier proves successful then we could extend this policy to some of the other stellar men of power; like Captain Major General Colonel Burch, and "P" in waiting Mr. Brown.
Howzat?

Dear Sir,
It's really alarming to read about the epidemic of burglaries constantly being committed against local homes and hotel and guest hours properties. In spite of the regular reporting of these crimes, people are still not securing their houses and guest properties against these regular criminal occurrences.
The hotels and guest house operators should inform their guests about the danger of leaving their valuables to the accessibility of a would-be burglar. Every week one reads about some guest or guests waking up in the early hours of the morning to discover someone rummaging through their belongings and getting away with their holiday money and other valuable and personal property.
It's not right and is giving Bermuda a bad image in addition to all the other negative things going on in the island of paradise like purse snatching which happens so often in the Hamilton Princess hotel area, it's a wonder Pitt's Bay road hasn't been nick named Purse Snatch Boulevard.
