Swearing carries a cost

A 22-year-old man was fined $500 after swearing at Police officers when they attempted to stop him from driving down a pedestrian only passageway.

Geamar Outerbridge, of Ord Road, Warwick pleaded guilty to yelling “f**k off” as he was stopped by Police officers on Washington Lane in Hamilton.

The court heard that people appeared to be fighting outside the Spring Garden restaurant around 1.25 a.m. on May 22.

Outerbridge was seen riding down Washington Lane on his motorcycle and the Police stopped him by pushing a shopping cart in his path. He swore once, was warned by officers, and then said: “I ain't done nothing, f**k.”

He was arrested for using offensive words in a public place.

Outerbridge gave a different account of the events saying he was choked and thrown up against a wall before he swore.

Police officers obstructed

A Devonshire man pleaded guilty to obstructing Police officers after he jumped a 12 foot drop during a chase.

The court heard that Damon Simons, 27, of Cavendish Heights was seen by officers at St. Monica's Mission by Police.

Simons had his fist clenched and began to walk away when he saw the Police. They approached the man and said he would be searched.

Simons threw something in his mouth and then began to run; jumping down a 12 foot drop and over a four foot wall before he eventually stopped.

Police asked what he put in his mouth and he said, “It's weed.”

He said he put it in his mouth because he was scared.
