Bermuda’s top cops for a day!

Seven young students got an inside look at policing in Bermuda as their prize in the Bermuda Police Service’s annual “Commissioners for a Day” competition.After getting a briefing from Police Commissioner Michael Desilva, the young Commissioners were taken on tours of the new Hamilton Police Station, the Dame Louis Browne-Evans court building, the Marine Unit and Police Headquarters.They also had lunch with their families alongside members of the Senior Command.The seven were picked for their essays or artwork depicting how police work in the community, as part of Police Week 2011.This year’s winners were Harrington Sound student Cairi Albuoys, 10; 10-year-old Purvis Primary students Steven Camara and Tariq Simons; eight-year-old Sh’niyah Akinstall, five-year-old Amayah Burt and nine-year-old Mia Webb from West Pembroke School, and Tazaiah Raynor, 11, from Whitney Institute.
