Man arrested after truck overturns

A man was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving after his truck overturned yesterday in Hamilton Parish.The 42-year-old received “minor injuries”, according to police.The accident happened around 6.45pm on Harrington Sound Road near the junction with Arrowroot Lane.Said a Police spokesman: “It appears that a truck was travelling along Harrington Sound Road when it collided with an embankment and overturned. The truck was extensively damaged as a result. The driver, a 42-year-old Hamilton Parish man, received minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.”Police are also investigating two additional accidents that happened yesterday.The first occurred around 1.45am on Mangrove Bay Road in Sandys, near the junction with Mangrove Lane.“It appears that a green car was travelling along Mangrove Bay Road when it collided with a white car parked in the area,” the spokesman said. “Both vehicles were reportedly heavily damaged as a result. It is unclear who the driver of the green car was at the time of the collision, however two females, believed to be occupants of the vehicle at the time, were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment of their injuries. At last check one of the alleged victims, a 20-year-old Southampton woman, was receiving treatment for an arm injury while the other alleged victim, a 19-year-old Sandys parish woman, had been treated and released.”The second accident saw a jeep and a motorcycle collide around 7.15pm at the junction of North Shore Road and Stepney Lane in Pembroke.Said the spokesman: “It appears that both vehicles were travelling along North Shore Road when they collided at the junction. As a result both vehicles were damaged and the rider of the motorcycle, a 58-year-old Smith’s parish man, was injured. The victim was taken to [KEMH] via ambulance for treatment of his injuries, which are not believed to be serious. There were no other injuries reported.
