A 29-year-old man who assaulted a police officer inside Hamilton Police Station has been sentenced to 30 days prison.Jevon Reid Daniels appeared before Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner and pleaded guilty to assaulting Pc Collin Mill on Wednesday, causing him grievous bodily harm.Daniels had initially been arrested on an outstanding warrant for an unpaid fine. Crown counsel Susan Mulligan told Magistrates’ Court the scuffle centred around a phone call that Daniels refused to end. Daniels meanwhile said the officer hung up the phone before he was finished using it.Mr Warner sentenced Daniels to 30 days in prison. He also ordered the defendant to pay the unpaid fine forthwith.
