Stanford Kofi Burrows of Moongate Lane, Paget, admitted assaulting and harming his girlfriend and to causing grievous bodily harm to her friend.

He also pleaded guilty to damaging a stereo cassette recorder in the amount of $355.

Sgt. Kenrick James, prosecuting, told the court the incident occurred in the early morning hours of July 3 while the persons involved were attending a party at "the Underground'' on Middle Town Road, Pembroke.

Burrows, 25, took the stereo out of a car, belonging to one of the victims, and threw it at his girlfriend's friend. It hit her in the mouth knocking one tooth out and chipping another.

He then grabbed his girlfriend, tried to choke her and hit her.

Burrows explained he had been provoked by his girlfriend's friend all evening and the incident would not have occurred it had not been for her shouting at him.

Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis sentenced Burrows to two prison terms of six months and one term of three months, to run concurrently.
