Flatts hopes dashed by Tucker

Flatts 137 Flatts did the hard part when they restricted Southampton Rangers to 189 in the top First Division Overs match on Sunday at Devonshire Rec.

And after an opening stand of 60 between Gershon Gibbons and Andrew Richardson, they were well on their way to another impressive victory.

However, the pendulum quickly swung in Rangers' favour when first-change bowler Janeiro Tucker claimed four of the first five Flatts wickets to have them reeling at 79-5.

Tucker removed Gibbons for 28, Richardson for 32, Rodney Woolridge (0) and Hewvonnie Brown (5) to expose the Flatts middle order. A stand of 29 between Dwayne Leverock (22 not out) and Phillip Burgess (18) slowed up Rangers briefly but three more wickets went down for nine runs to leave Flatts facing sure defeat at 117-8.

Tucker finished with four for 25 off 10 overs with three maidens while Olin Jones claimed two for 10 from 4.3 overs.

Somerset 51 PHC 54-4 PHC made short work of home team Somerset after strike pair Shoron Hunt and Neil Anglin needed only 18 overs to run through the Somerset batting.

Anglin claimed six for 12 from his nine over spell which included five maidens while Hunt had figures of three for 35 off nine overs. Somerset captain Shaun Roberts was high man with 16 while opener Wendell White was the only other batsman in double figures with 11.

Arthur Richards scored 19 and Gerald Simons 14 as PHC reached their target in 14.5 overs. Kenny Maybury claimed two of the four wickets for 19 runs.

Social Club are claiming the points from their match at White Hill Field with Somerset Bridge after the wicket was not properly prepared.

In a Cup Match trial at Somerset on Saturday, the A Select, captained by Dexter Basden, beat the B Select by 113 runs. The A Select scored 199 and dismissed their opponents for 86.
