Godwin plans Parsons Road dental office
to change a Pembroke building's use from a house to a dentist's office.
Dr. Godwin said yesterday he anticipates that the conversion, situated on 41 Parsons Road, will be at the forefront of changes in the area, which should benefit from the transformation of the adjacent Pembroke Dump into a park.
However Dr. Godwin must be granted planning permission for the actual development before he can spend the "hundreds of thousands of dollars'' it will take to convert the current two units into a dentist's office.
This latest news was most welcome for Dr. Godwin who had successfully appealed a Dental Practitioners' Board decision to strike his name from the list of registered practitioners after his conviction for insurance fraud.
"I am back on the register now,'' he said yesterday. "Everything is going well. I can practise.
"In fact my name never went off the register because the decision to strike it off was stayed, pending the outcome of my appeal to the Governor.'' He said of the DAB decision: "It's good news. It's a cause for a celebration.
Order must follow chaos even if it took five years. 1997 has been a good year.'' Dr. Godwin said that he intends to develop the property to its fullest potential so that it can be an asset to Parsons Road.
"Once the dump is converted to a park I anticipate that business will grow in that area,' he added. "And other professionals will move into the area.
"In the next ten to 15 years I see Parsons Road developing and being transformed. I will be at the forefront of that change.''
