Figurine bought in Bermuda added to Police memorabilia collection
A figurine of a policeman in Bermuda shorts purchased by a visitor 50 years ago is now part of what may be the largest collection of such memorabilia in the world, according to a US news report. The Dunedin Patch website, which covers Dunedin, Florida, reported this week that retired police Sergeant Robert Burdewick bought the souvenir while on a work-related trip to Bermuda. In addition to Bermuda shorts, the policeman figurine also wore an English helmet.“That first figurine, which he put on display in his Long Island home, started what’s become the Robert G Burdewick Police Statue Collection of 2,000 strong, a large part of which is on display at the National Armed Services & Law Enforcement Memorial Museum (NASLEMM) on Douglas Avenue in Dunedin,” reported the website.According to Mr Burdewick, 79, he recently purchased his 2000th police statue through eBay.com from a collector in Texas. He believes his collection may be the largest in the world and it fills every room in his house except the bathroom.http://dunedin.patch.com
