Paget West is a UBP stronghold

Paget West has long been a United Bermuda Party stronghold, with Patricia Gordon-Pamplin comfortably winning each of the past two General Elections.

In 2007, she defeated the Premier's race relations consultant Rolfe Commissiong of the Progressive Labour Party by 732 votes to 233.

Four years earlier, Mrs. Gordon-Pamplin beat the PLP's Leopold Kuchler by 633 to 211.

One of the wealthiest constituencies on the Island, figures from the 2000 Census show Paget West is made up of about 57 percent whites, one of the highest proportions in Bermuda.
