Cream of the crop!
Acting Sports Minister Michael Scott was at the airport on Tuesday night to welcome home a successful track and field team which picked up a total of 10 medals at the weekend's Carifta Games in Cayman Islands.
Jeneko Place (pictured right) who has now qualified for the World Youth Championships, won two silver medals in the under-17 boys 100 and 200 metres and posted personal best times in both events.
Bermuda finished fifth out of 26 nations that competed in the Caribbean and won four more medals than they collected at last year's Games in St.Lucia.
Shaquille Dill won a silver medal in the 800 metres, while Juma Mouchette (1,500 metres), Jasmine Brunson (long jump), Taylor Ashley Bean (3,000 metres) Allison Outerbridge (triple jump), Henry Stevens-Carty (800 metres) Christian Wright (long jump) and Akeila Richardson (triple jump) all claimed bronze medals.
Bermuda Track and Field Association preisdent Donna Watson said she was immensely proud of the athletes' performances.
"We just about medalled in all of the events we participated in and we placed fifth out of the 26 teams that competed in Carifta.
"We had plenty of time on the medal podium this year.
"The athletes perfomed up to our expectations and we really made an impact at the Games this year.
"I'm very proud of all of the athletes and they truly did Bermuda proud."
