Meteorologists watch Jeanne
it may head towards Bermuda.
Jeanne is currently some 2,925 nautical miles to the east-southeast of Bermuda but officials at the Bermuda Weather Service fear if it develops and follows a northerly route, it could pose a threat to the Island next week.
Forecaster James Buxton said they were also monitoring the progress of Hurricane Georges as it hammered the Caribbean and Tropical Storm Ivan as it formed 1,790 miles to the east in the Atlantic.
Neither are currently considered to be a threat.
Georges is expected to head toward Cuba and then Miami by the end of the week.
As it crosses land, its power will diminish but there is a chance it could head back out into the Atlantic.
Tropical storm Ivan is considered too far north in the Atlantic to become a threat to Bermuda. It is currently over 1,790 miles away and its closest point of approach is expected to be 1,000 miles.
"Jeanne is the dark horse, it is a long way to the east of us. It has got alot of hot water to move across and develop in the next couple of weeks,'' said Mr. Buxton.
"It is going further north than Bonnie and Georges did, and is much more of a concern for Bermuda if it follows a west-northwest track.'' There is also the possibility that Jeanne -- which now has winds of up to 45 knots and is moving in a west-northwest direction -- could blow itself out over the Atlantic.
