Belco, BCL drive BSX
Jumps in the share prices of Belco Holdings and Bermuda Container Line sent the Royal Gazette/Bermuda Stock Exchange Index up almost one percent in active trading yesterday.
A day after the Index closed unchanged with just two issues trading, five stocks traded yesterday, although Belco and BCL were the only companies to change price.
Belco closed up $2 or 8.7 percent at $25 on volume of 6,500 shares while BCL soared $1.50 or 12.5 percent to close at $13.50 as 1,900 shares changed hands.
Closing unchanged were Bermuda Commercial Bank on $8 on volume of 3,700 shares while Argus held at $13 on volume of 300. Butterfield Bank was also unchanged on $56.50 as just 36 shares traded.
The Index was up 44.87 points or 0.98 percent at 4,882.09. A total of 11,836 shares worth $207,225 changed hands.
