head-on collision yesterday morning on Middle Road in Warwick.

Police said the accident occurred just after 7.15 a.m. when a 17-year-old from Southampton was travelling west on Middle Road near Spicelands Riding Centre and was believed to have been trying to overtake a bus.

The youth's bike collided with another Yamaha cycle ridden by a 30-year-old Warwick man travelling in the opposite direction.

Both riders were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital by ambulance where the 17-year-old man was last night listed in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit while the second rider was critical but stable in ICU.

The accident is under investigation.
