Woman fined after dog joins in sheep killing
to discover that he had taken part in the killing and wounding of five sheep.
Norma Ingemann, 64, of Ferry Reach, yesterday pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to allowing her brown terrier to stray and owning a dog which caused damage.
Crown counsel Mr. Mark Pettingill told the court that between March 16 and 17, Ingemann's terrier, along with four other dogs, entered the grounds of the Esso storage facility at Ferry Reach.
"While inside, the dogs killed three sheep and mauled two which as a result had to be put to sleep,'' Mr. Pettingill said.
He said after hearing about the incident Ingemann decided to put her dog to sleep.
When asked by Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis if she had anything to say Ingemann replied:" My dog is a tiny little dog. I kept him tied up every day.
"At night I would let him run around and he would always come back home for dinner but on this night he didn't come back.
"There are a pack of stray dogs in the Ferry Reach area. They are all around.
When I heard what he had done I put him to sleep''.
Mr. Francis fined Ingemann $100 for allowing her dog to stray and $150 for owning a dog which caused damage.
