Mr. Keith Jensen, general manager of The Royal Gazette Ltd., cited "the substantial cost of newsprint'', which has increased by more than 40 percent this year alone, as the reason for the increase.

"The manufacturers of newsprint are raising their prices at a rate that is out of keeping with the economic reality of many countries,'' Mr. Jensen said.

"They are taking advantage of market demand and it will continue for the next year.''
