Readers object to price hike
readers objected to paying extra for the company's new RG Magazine.
Nearly 100 people complained about having to pay 50 cents more for Thursday's newspaper which carried the premier issue of the 68-page, full colour monthly magazine.
Last night, general manager Mr. Keith Jensen said 97 complaints were fielded out of 18,000 magazines distributed. Sixty one complainants returned the magazine for a 50 cent refund.
"We've had a positive reaction as well,'' Mr. Jensen said. "Additional copies of the magazine were sold over the counter and those who have read it think it's very good.'' Mr. Jensen said the 50 cent surcharge was not out of line with other newspapers which increase their prices to carry magazines.
RG Magazine will be carried once a month by the newspaper.
