Legal advice for seniors – it's free!

They say if it's sounds too good to be true, then it isn't true. What then do you say about the decision by law firm Mello, Jones and Martin to offer free legal advice to seniors this week?

If you think it is too good to be true then you could miss a golden opportunity to get sound advice.

Seniors will be able to avail themselves of either a lecture on estate planning, including property matters and wills, or have a 20-minute private consultation with a lawyer from the firm on a particular issue.

Claudette Fleming, Executive Director of Age Concern, said it was the third year the company had made the offer of bringing its legal team to Age Concern to directly help seniors address their personal concerns.

Ms Fleming said seven or eight lawyers would be on hand for the legal clinic on Thursday from 2.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m.

More than 100 people have already registered, half for the lecture on estate planning and half for the 20-minute consultations, but Ms Fleming said there was room to accommodate more.

While Age Concern is actively seeking members, Ms Fleming said the legal clinic was open to all seniors. If you are aged 50 you are eligible to attend this free clinic and you're also eligible to join Age Concern.

For more information or to reserve a space, call Age Concern on 238-7525.
