Bay Skipper leads way in St David's

National team skipper Irving Romaine struck a superb 64 not out to help visiting Bailey's Bay to a six-run victory over St. David's at Lord's in a reduced overs Premier Division game.
Batting first with their overs reduced to 47, Romaine led the way with his fine display at the wicket, slamming four sixes and three fours while Roderick Masters followed on 34.
Veteran all-rounder Lionel Cann had the best bowling analysis for the home side, finishing with two for 25 off five overs while skipper Delyone Borden claimed two for 40 off nine overs and Justin Pitcher also took two wickets but for a more costly 61 runs off nine overs with a maiden.
St. David's had their innings reduced to 45 overs when they batted and were left to chase a winning target of 198.
But with no batsmen able to display any heroics at the crease, the home side suffered a rare home defeat by the smallest margin.
OJ Pitcher was their top scorer with 29 while Cann chipped in with 25 and Angelo –Cannonier 18.
Jim West was the chief wicket taker for Bay finishing with three for 31 off seven overs while Wendell White claimed two for 35 off seven overs.
Social Club 188-9
Cleveland 139
At Sea Breeze Oval, Jeffrey Tyrrell snatched five wickets for 37 to inspire Social Club to this 49-run victory.
With Tyrrell in good bowling form, his haul coming from 10 overs with one maiden, Social Club also got help from David Lovell who took two for 49 from nine overs.
Cleveland were finally dismissed in 32.2 overs with Charles Richardson top scoring with 38 while Courtney Trott followed on 27 and Jason Simons with 19.
Earlier Social Club were ensured a respectable total with Pierre Smith high man on 51. Tyrrell was next on 24 and Jameiko Marshall and Nakia Smith on 18 apiece, Smith undefeated. Player-coach Charlie Marshall was not among those in double figures, caught for six.
Dennis Musson was the best bowler for Cleveland with three for 20 off 10 overs with four maidens, while Charles Richardson claimed three for 42 off ten overs with a maiden and Shakai Darrell two for 33 off ten overs with a maiden.
First Division
St. George's 229-9–Western Stars 142
Ryan Steede hammered an undefeated 129 and then took two wickets to power home side St. George's to 87-run victory over Western Stars at Wellington Oval.
Steede, better known for his fast bowling, helped steer his team from the brink of disaster when they were floundering at 28 for the loss of six wickets and all seemingly lost for the team as far as reaching a respectable and winning total was concerned.
With the help of Christian Burgess (23), Steede was play a dominant role in the rescue effort, the pair adding 75 for the seventh wicket and then with further help from tailender Gregg Foggo (30*). Steede stayed around to help the team to what later proved to be a formidable total as they passed the double century mark.
Steede, who came in at number eight, finished hitting 17 fours and five sixes.
Jaja Millett was the best bowler for Stars finishing with five for 39 off 10 overs with two maidens while Raymond Butterfield claimed two for 33 off seven overs with a maiden.
Stars were never able to make a serious run at victory, Rohan Davis top scoring on 41 while opener tready Gibbons Jr. –scored 27.
Greff Foggo was the best bowler for the East Enders with three for 22 off seven overs while Steede had two for 28 off five overs and Oronde Bascome two for 33 off 8.3 overs.
Willow Cuts 154 –Leg Trappers 155-7.
Fine bowling by Jordash Rawson followed by a flourishing batting display by David Pringle carried Trappers to a three-wicket victory over Cuts at Police field.
Rawson and Pringle helped restrict Cuts batsmen with the pair combining to take eight wickets, Rawson finishing with five for 33 off 10 overs with a maiden and Pringle having three for 37 off 10 overs with three maidens.
Sixteen-year-old Kavon Fubler top scored for Cuts with 48 while Sharoy Fubler scored 32 and Bergon Spencer 20.
Trappers were able to reach their winning target in 40 overs, Pringle leading the way with 59 not out, and Rawson chipped in with 43.
Kavon Fubler took three for 24 off 10 overs and Sheroy Fubler two for 34 of 10 overs.
Somerset Bridge 218
Devonshire 222-2
An unbroken 91-run third wicket stand between Derek Brangman and Chris Foggo carried Devonshire to an eight-wicket thrashing of Somerset Bridge at Devonshire Rec. on Sunday.
Brangman was undefeated on 40 and Foggo 38 when the Open League champions achieved victory with 98 balls to spare.
Also coming good with the bat for the home team was Odapo Fredericks who was his team's top scorer with 65 while Stephen Bremar jr chipped in with 49.
Spinners Bilal Lambert (one for 26) and Craig Brangman (one for 33) were the pick of a Bridge bowling attack that toiled in vain.
Earlier, Derek Hill smashed 85 to help Bridge to a respectable total and received good support from Wayne Ball jr (36) and Noel Woods who hit an unbeaten 36.
Devonshire player/coach Ricky Brangman led his team's bowling with superb figures of four for 50 off nine overs that included three maidens.
Saturday
Western Stars 228-8
Somerset Bridge 104
An outstanding innings of 80 by 16-year-old Brian Hall combined with an equally impressive bowling haul of five wickets by Treadwell Gibbons helped Western Stars to this comprehensive 124-run victory over Somerset Bridge in this First Division clash at White Hill on Saturday.
Opener Hall got things rolling in Stars' favour with his solid knock that included eight fours by the right-hander. Skipper Justin Robinson followed with 34, while Treadwell Gibbons, the other opener, contributed 28. Hall and Gibbons put on 70 for the first wicket.
Kirk Simons was the top bowler for Bridge with three for 28 off ten overs while Noel Woods claimed three for 37 off seven overs.
With Gibbons leading the way with his slow-medium deliveries, Bridge crumbled to defeat in 27.1 overs. Gibbons' figures of five for 12 off 7.1 overs with four maidens were easily his best of the season. Tre Manders returned two for 16 off five overs.
Leg Trappers 191
St. George's 159-9
In a game in which home side St. George's had their target reduced to 157 because of rain interruption, the Duckworth Lewis system enabled the East Enders to slip home by one wicket.
Trappers had early success and reached a surprisingly respectable total against their heavilly favoured opponents, skipper Nick Lucking top scoring on 45 while David Pringle and Jadash Rawson each hit 40.
Jonte Smith was the pick of the home team bowlers with four for 23 off nine overs while Greg Foggo claimed four for 39 off –8.3 overs as the pair helped dismiss Trappers in 39.3 overs.
With their innings reduced to 38 overs and a target reduced, St. George's struggled against a spirited Trappers side for whom Nigel Summerfield was the best bowler with four for 35 off nine overs. Troy Hall was high scorer for St. George's with 29 while Jonte Smith followed close behind on 24 not out.
Warwick 109
Willow Cuts 92-3
In a game at St. John's field also decided by the Duckworth Lewis method, Willow Cuts won by seven wickets.
Cuts had their winning target reduced to 92 and Rawn Warner and Damon Thompson wasted little time in steering them to victory. Warner was not out on 35 and Thompson undefeated on 39 when victory was secured.
Sixteen-year-old Benjamin James was the pick of the Warwick bowlers with two for 38 off six overs.
Earlier Warwick struggled to their meagre total in 33.2 overs with Jade Darrell top scoring on 38. Charles Swan took three for 13 off nine overs and Bergon Spencer two for 18 off six overs.
