Live performance of hit musical to screen at Neptune Theatre

A live performance of the hit musical ‘FELA!' will screen at Neptune Theatre this weekend.It marks the first of several produced by the National Theatre of London that will be shown here by Higher Visions, an organisation dedicated to advancement of the arts.“The aim is to showcase the best of UK creativity overseas while working with the best of creative talent to develop innovative events and collaborations that link thousands of artists and cultural institutions around the world, and developing skills and leadership in the creative sector,” said Emilygail Dill.‘FELA!' is the true story of the legendary Nigerian musician Fela Kuti, whose soulful rhythms ignited a generation.A number of live broadcasts of London plays are planned through June as part of the National Theatre Live Series.Among them are the Donmar Warehouse production of Shakespeare's ‘King Lear', directed by Michael Grandage, Danny Boyle's production of a new adaptation of ‘Frankenstein', and Howard Davies' production of Chekhov's ‘The Cherry Orchard'.Tickets are available online, www.premiertickets.bm, for $35 or via subscription for $125 for all four productions. ‘FELA!' will screen Saturday at 7.30pm, Sunday at 6pm and Monday at 7.30pm.For more information telephone 291-6243 or e-mail higher_visions[AT]yahoo.com.
