BLDC puts former White’s site up for rent
Bermuda Land Development Company has wasted no time trying to find a new tenant for the old Southside supermarket space.A newspaper advertisement on Friday says the BLDC offers approximately 31,304 square-feet of “retail and warehouse space available for rent”, showing a photo of the former Southside White’s Supermarket. Serious enquiries only are sought.BLDC, a private sector company owned by Government, would not comment on what interest it’s had and what the asking rent was, or whether it had been lowered given the previous tenant’s troubles.A BLDC employee said someone would call us back but no one did.White’s stores in Southside and Warwick have both closed after Court orders to wind them up in an effort to repay creditors.A total of 33 creditors have come forward in support of the winding-up petitions.
