Vasco out for revenge
Boulevard in a Martonmere Cup clash at BAA Field (kick-off 8.00 p.m.).
The Portuguese club's priority will be to secure top place in Group A of the competition. But they will also want revenge for a 3-2 loss against Boulevard in the Charity Cup at the same venue on September 6. Both teams have already secured their Martonmere Cup semi-final places by beating Southampton Rangers.
Boulevard won 3-0 at Devonshire Rec. on September 16 and Vasco handed their opponents a 3-1 defeat on Sunday at Bernard Park.
However, tonight Vasco will be determined to turn the tables on their cup rivals.
During extra-time in the Charity Cup, Boulevard had veteran forward Dwight Warren to thank for a superb golden goal which settled the issue after 14 minutes.
The teams had tied 2-2 in regulation time, Sinclair Gibbons and Kentoine Jennings (penalty) netting for Vasco and Vernon Phillips and Kenny Darrell (penalty) scoring for Boulevard.
The game, however, was marred by three sending offs -- Dwight Basden and Tafari Outerbridge of Vasco and Leroy Stevens of Boulevard, all of whom will be sidelined tonight.
Coach John Rebello had warned his players not to be complacent after coming off their most successful season. But the message seemingly wasn't heeded and Vasco will be eager to make amends.
The winners tonight will meet Devonshire Colts in the semi-finals while the losers will play Dandy Town.
