A four-goal salvo from star striker Aljame Zuill helped Devonshire Colts to a comfortable Martonmere Cup victory over Somerset Trojans last night.

The match at BAA Field was a lively encounter -- besides Zuill's strikes, there was also enough time for an own goal, a scattering of bookings and a sending off.

Somerset pressed in the early stages and Jermaine Dill missed the target with a header, while Paul Maybury skewed wide from a good position.

Against the run of play the Colts took the lead in the 11th minute through Zuill after good work on the right hand side of the box.

As the half wore on referee George O'Brien was forced to caution Harry Hunt of Somerset and Shannon Burgess for Colts.

Devonshire came more into the game but couldn't extend their lead by the time the whistle blew for the interval.

After 53 minutes referee O'Brien showed the yellow card to Somerset's Galvin Butterfield for an offence 25 yards from goal.

Three minutes later Colts stretched the lead when Zuill was put through by Quincy Aberdeen and the striker neatly side-stepped the keeper before scoring.

Glorious interplay between Vic Ball and Zuill saw the pair exchange passes in the 61st minute and the latter fired underneath the despairing 'keeper.

Zuill's fourth came in the 68th minute when he collected a high ball near the box and fired into the bottom right-hand corner.

The goal-hero was replaced a minute later by Clevon Hill but Colts may have been wishing they had kept him on the field as Dwight Basden pulled a goal back for Somerset with a header that went in off the underside of the bar.

Any hopes the Trojans had of pulling the game back looked to have slipped away when Galvin Butterfield was sent off for his second bookable offence in the 75th minute.

They did find a second goal, though they had Colts' Kevin Simpson to thank after he inexplicably put through his own net.

Normal order was restored in the 85th minute when Devonshire substitute Keenan Burchall fired home a loose ball to make it 5-2.
