BUEI gift shop seeks island-made merchandise

A gift shop that caters to the tourist trade is seeking vendors with locally-made or Bermuda-themed merchandise.

Oceans Gift Shop at the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute said it wishes to showcase the items in its outlet this summer.

Barb Jones, membership coordinator and gift shop manager at the BUEI, said: “Our visitors always have a big interest in Bermuda-made or themed products. The island has so many talented artists and creatives, we’d like to showcase them in our Oceans Gift Shop.”

The BUEI said items to be considered for display should be locally-made or Bermuda-themed, with preference given to those locally-made.

Items should be priced to allow for 70/30 consignment, and vendors must make a three-month commitment to ensure the gift shop is stocked as needed, the BUEI said.

Vendors will also be able to set up their own display in the BUEI lobby at least once during the summer so that they can engage directly with visitors.

Interested vendors are encouraged to e-mail giftshop@buei.bm with a bio, photos of their items, and a price list.
