Ponies back on track for holiday meet
flooding of the track caused by heavy rain and now the attention switches to the Boxing Day programme at Vesey Street.
A total of 16 races will take place, including the two, three and four-year-old stakes. Post time is 12 noon.
In the two-year-olds, the four ponies will be Runt's Rocket, Jennifer Time, Crunchtime and Blazeway.
Runt's Rocket, a Bay mare, is owned by the Hang Um High stables and driven by Junior DeSilva. She has won the two-year-old Filly Race and is the Indiana Sire Stakes winner for 1997. Her fastest time is 1.09 on a quarter-mile track and 1.05 on a half-mile track.
Jennifer Time is a Mahogany Bay mare, owned and driven by Michael DeCosta. She has won the two-year-old Stakes Race in Florida and her fastest time is 1.09/1 on a 5/16 track.
Blazeway and Crunchtime are both Bermuda bred, Blazeway owned by Bill Booth and Crunchtime owned and driven by Michael DeCosta.
In the three-year-old stakes the ponies are Miss LL Dane, Speedway Jr, Tuxedo's Bowtie, El Grande and Tuxedo's Little Mite.
Tuxedo's Bowtie, a black stallion, is owned and driven by Eddie Roque. Bowtie has the most wins for two-year-olds and has a fastest time of 1.10/2. He is the half brother to Tuxedo's Little Mite and Shamrock Formal Attire.
Tuxedo's Little Mite is a dark chestnut stallion and is owned by Bobby DeGraff and Wilton Woolridge and driven by DeGraff. He only started racing this season and has a fastest time of 1.31.
Miss LL Dane is a Mahogany Bay mare and is owned by the Mello family, driven by Colin Mello. She is a full sister of Happy Hoe Jr.
Speedway Jr., a black stallion, comes out of the Hang Um High stables and is driven by Junior DeSilva. His fastest time is 1.11/2 on a quarter-mile track.
El Grande is a Bermuda bred Bay stallion and is owned and driven by Michael DeCosta.
The three ponies in the four-year-old stakes are Shamrock Formal Attire, How Quick Time Flies and Happy Hoe Jr.
How Quick Time Flies, also out of the Hang Um High stables and driven by Junior DeSilva, has the second fastest time for three-year-olds in 1996, the fastest time (1.06/2) on a quarter-mile track and 1.02/4 on a half-mile track.
Happy Hoe Jr., owned and driven by Randy Wilkinson Jr, won the three-year-old Stakes Race at Piste Rive Nord in Quebec, Canada in 1996 and is the brother of Miss LL Dane. Fastest time is 1.07/2.
Shamrock Formal Attire is owned by Joe Roque and driven by Eddie Roque. He had the most three-year-old wins and the fastest three-year-old time last year and was also the winner of the two-year-old Stakes Races in 1995 and the three-year-old Stakes Races in 1996.
He has a fastest time of 1.07/3 and is the half brother to Tuxedo's Little Mite and Tuxedo's Bowtie.
