The Meridian arrived from Philadelphia on Monday. She berthed at King's Wharf in Dockyard with 1,123 passengers.

The aircraft carrier USS Saratoga and the battle group escorting her, left Bermuda on Tuesday afternoon to return to the United States. The Saratoga carried with her 1,000 "Tigers'', a Navy term for family and friends of crewmembers who board the ship for the last leg of her journey to home port.

Tigers are given the opportunity to learn about life at sea and to share in the commaradarie of shipboard life.

HMS Malabar Cmdr. Robin Bawtree reported the Tuesday morning departure of the HMS Norfolk , which berthed on Front Street to help celebrate the Queen's birthday on Monday. She will be returning to the United Kingdom after being abroad for six months.

The Canadian frigate HMCS Fredericton will berth in Dockyard on Tuesday. She is here for the cessation of Canada's military presence on the Island, now represented by the Canadian Forces Liaison Officer.

On Wednesday, the Royal Navy trials ship Newton will arrive in Dockyard for refuelling. The 324-foot Newton will depart on July 1 to conduct submarine trials in the Caribbean.

While in port both ships will be supported by HMS Malabar.
