Hunt on for new hospital chief-of-staff
The hunt is on for a new chief-of-staff at the hospital
The three-year contract for former chief-of-staff Dr. June Hill expired on June 1, and Dr. Hill announced in April she would be stepping down from the position.
Bermuda Hospitals Board (BHB) CEO Joan Dillas-Wright said yesterday the BHB is "currently reviewing applicants" after advertising the position locally.
However she declined reveal information about the applicants or when the BHB will reach a decision, saying the process has already begun.
The chief-of-staff has responsibility for providing operational and strategic leadership in support of excellence in patient care, Ms Dillas-Wright said. Any applicants have to be registered with the Bermuda Medical Society and be certified by the Board as well as having appropriate management training.
Recommendations will come before a selection panel and then go on to the Board. Currently. Dr. Robert Vallis is filling Dr. Hill's shoes as acting chief-of-staff at the hospital.
