Outpatient admits damaging vehicle
after being told to leave a ward will be sentenced in Magistrates' Court on August 25.
Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis on Tuesday ordered psychiatric and social inquiry reports for Rydell R. Stovell, 35, of Happy Valley Road, Pembroke after she pleaded guilty to wilfully and unlawfully damaging a car.
Prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy told the Court that on May 15 Stovell was asked to leave the Sommers ward at St. Brendan's Hospital by Lornette Simons.
"Stovell reluctantly did so,'' Insp. Duffy said.
"When Simons went to her car she discovered several deep scratches on the hood and sides of the car. The damage was valued at $600.'' Stovell admitted damaging the car when questioned by Police on June 8, Insp.
Duffy said. She said she was not happy about being told to leave the hospital.
Insp. Duffy added Stovell had previous convictions of wilful damage and is now on probation for damaging a mattress at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital last May.
When Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis asked Stovell if she had anything to say Stovell said:"Me and St. Brendan's don't set. They do a lot of wicked things to me. When I was there they killed my two children, I was carrying twins. They drugged me up. I am an out patient and I wasn't causing any problems. I was giving the staff candies.
"Simons told me that I was coming around to often and asked me to leave the ward. I felt like hitting her. I am no stranger to St. Brendan's. There was no reason for her to jump on me like a horse and barricade me.'' Stovell will appear for mention to August 25, when the reports are expected to be completed.
