Reboot and relax with a herbal smoothie
Chloe is in the kitchen making mini pancakes. It’s taking 900 years and using up every last drop of my parenting patience. She also has a blueberry compote bubbling away which is pretty delicious and very posh.
But I am at the end of my summer holiday reserves and considering making myself a cocktail ... at 8.37am. Hmm, this is not good.
Meanwhile, Belle is scooting around the house trying to find a way to earn $40 so she can buy a gorgeous stuffed lion from the Bermuda Museum, Aquarium & Zoo. It would be easier to buy her the lion but I am fully aware this is a life lesson.
So, she is tidying and polishing and generally making more mess, but with good intentions.
When I say scooting though, I do mean that literally. I’ve been taken out by a low-flying six-year-old several times in a morning. At least she’s wearing a helmet now. This is after landing face down a little earlier, narrowly missing the cat food.
As you can see, it’s all completely out of control here. But instead of the cocktail, I’m about to rustle up a herbal smoothie to reboot my morning.
Using herbal tea as a mixer popped into my brain in a random moment of inspiration and has totally made my week!
There’s no sugar, no weird additives and if you brew the tea well, the flavour is delicious.
This recipe uses chamomile tea as a base. I actually used something called Chamomile Nights, which sounds a little like the herbs have been up to no good in the factory. That aside, it tastes delicious. It’s by Stash at Supermart.
Make it the night before and then chill in the fridge for the morning. All you have to do is blend, sip, sit back and relax!
