Smith breaks record

Kavin Smith romped to victory in the Labour Day Road Race yesterday, winning by a two-minute margin and setting a new race record in the process.
Smith covered the five-mile course around the streets of Hamilton in 25 minutes, 29 seconds, at an average pace of 5:06 per mile.
Smith won a $275 travel voucher for winning the race and a $500 travel voucher for breaking the record.
Sheldon Thompson was second in 27:29, Tracy Wright third in 28:12 and Mark Morrison fourth in 28:29.
Anna Eatherley was the fastest woman in the field, winning in 30:59, ahead of Karen Smith (32:13) and Maria Conroy-Haydon (34:43), who also won the women's 40-49 age group.
Newton Adcock won the men's 50 and over age group in 34:51.
