Police probe spate of break-ins
theft of a quantity of jewellry and various personal items.
A 21-year-old Factory Lane, Pembroke, acquaintance -- who was visiting the victim of the theft's roommate -- discovered the items missing from the bedroom.
The jewellry included a chain bracelet with an inscription on the outside, one square-faced gold ring with ten diamonds, a gold-faced watch and brown leather strap, and an 18-inch gold rope chain.
The victim's roommate also reported his wallet, containing a quantity of cash, as well as personal papers, were also missing.
Meanwhile a Point Finger Road, Paget, couple discovered their home had been broken into during the early hours of Thursday morning.
They told Police they had gone to bed around midnight and awakened just after 7 a.m. to find one handbag missing and a briefcase ransacked.
A quantity of local and US currency was also taken.
In another overnight break-in, a 30-year-old Valley View Crescent female reported that someone stole her handbag while she slept.
She told Police the theft occurred sometime overnight Wednesday.
Reported missing was a quantity of cash, bank cards, and other personal items.
And a manager at Dismont's Liquor Store reported around 11 a.m on Thursday he was alerted by an employee of a possible shoplifting.
The manager went to the scene of the alleged theft and called out to a man, who immediately fled the shop on foot, running east on Front Street.
The manager gave chase and the suspect took out a bottle of Smirnoff Vodka from his pants and dropped it to the ground, making good his escape.
The item was retrieved and the manager called off his chase.
