Record day for mobile vaccination centres
More than 400 people got Covid-19 vaccine jabs at a walk-in clinic yesterday – a record for the service.
A total of 401 doses were administered between 10am and 2pm at the Transport Control Department in Pembroke.
David Burt, the Premier, who visited the site, said: “It’s great to be out at the TCD mobile vaccination clinic today.
“We have so many people that have come out today – people who have been coming back for their second dose that got it three weeks ago and so many people that are coming out for their first dose today.”
He added: “The way that we move past the pandemic and move beyond the pandemic, as the Government has set out, is vaccination and continuing to make sure we move forward as a country.”
Mr Burt said: “My heart is full and I’m overwhelmed by the response from the Bermuda community.”
A spokeswoman for the ministry of health said: “This is, by far, the largest number of people to participate in the programme in one day.”
She added that “1,723 people have gotten a first and second shot of the vaccine through the mobile programme”.
The next Close To Home Covid-19 vaccination location will be at the Open Door Christian Assembly in St. David’s tomorrow from 10am to 2pm.
