Roy Fellows tallied for the Forties in the match with Colin McQueen netting one for Hood.
Meanwhile, group B is still undecided although Spinning Wheel is certainly in the drivers seat.
Island Rangers kept their hopes alive on the basis of a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Lobster Pot. Goals by Keith Bremar, Ryan Evans and an own goal by Mike McGuinness spurred Rangers on and countered strikes from Martin Lane and Simon Turner.
Pot desperately now need a win against Spinning Wheel in their next match to avoid being dumped out of the competition.
Division B had both games end in draws with Coca-Cola tying St. George's All-Stars 2-2 as Horace Simons and Sinclair Trott were successful in finding paydirt for Coke and Wendell Smith and Cal Raynor doing the honours for St.
George's.
Meanwhile, the scoreline was similar between Exiles and Devonshire Colts All-Stars. Alan Johnson and Edwin Ford struck for the former while Jeff Richardson tallied twice -- one a penalty -- for Colts.
