With Video: Torrential rain causes extensive damage
An embankment along the south side of Palmetto Road near Perimeter Lane, Devoshire, collapsed during heavy rains overnight, bringing down utility poles and causing extensive damage.
In the House of Assembly this morning, Ms Patricia Gordon Pamplin said: “The Ministry engineers are on site, evaluating the damage and the structure of the wall and the underlying foundation. Equipment has been brought on site to clear the road to allow the Perimeter Lane residents free access and egress.
“The clean-up to the affected houses will commence as soon as the engineers can confirm that there is no further danger of collapse.”
She said the Ministry had also been advised of other rock-faces collapses and flooding across the Island and all complaints are being evaluated.
