Motorists have been advised to avoid a stretch of Pembroke road until repairs in the area are complete.The westbound lane of Palmetto Road west of Bishops Spencer Road has been closed, causing traffic delays in that area.Said a Government spokesman: “It is anticipated that this lane closure will be in effect for a significant period of time until such time as the rock cut that collapsed on [a] property on Perimeter Lane is stabilised.“The stabilisation of the rock cut is not the Ministry’s responsibility. The landowners on Perimeter Lane are responsible for constructing a proper retaining wall there.”Motorists were yesterday advised to use alternate routes. Traffic lights are expected to be installed in the area “shortly”, the spokesman added.“The Ministry apologises for any inconvenience to the motoring public caused by this traffic diversion and requests that traffic signs in this area are observed.”
