Conley sounds warning

Invitational golf tournament when he fired the low score -- an even-par 70 -- in yesterday's Belmont Pro-Am.

Battling strong winds, Conley added a back nine of 36 to a front nine 34 to edge out fellow American Paul Parajeckas by one shot. Also carding 71 was another visiting pro, G.Dorsi.

The 72-hole Invitational tees off this morning with a full field of 120 including defending junior champion Fran Marello and senior champion Joe Carr.

Leading Bermuda's charge will be Belmont's own pros, Cornell Bean, Barry DeCouto and Dwayne Pearman as well as St.George's pro Kim Swan.

In the absence of Scott Mayne, Robert Vallis and Henry Ascento, this year's amateur division appears wide open with Bill Pitt, Dave Purcell, Nick Mansell and visitor Ronnie Milton among those expoected to challenge.
