Virtual Transcontinental Trusts Forum starts next week
Two lawyers from the Bermuda office of law firm Appleby are among the speakers at the Transcontinental Trusts International Forum, a four-day event set to begin on Tuesday.
The firm said the long-time fixture on the Bermuda business calendar will be held virtually for the second year running.
Hannah Tildesley, counsel from the dispute resolution department, and Caljonah Smith, senior associate from the private client & trusts department, will feature, the firm said.
Ms Tildesley will speak on the panel “When trusts are no longer useful/fit for purpose – blessings/variation of trusts”.
The firm said she specialises in international commercial litigation, with a particular focus on contentious trust disputes, banking and funds litigation and director and shareholder disputes.
Ms Tildesley also advises on the litigation aspects of corporate deals, including governance issues, director duties and enforcement and insolvency considerations.
Ms Smith will provide her insight on the “Jurisdiction Development: Bermuda” panel.
The firm said her key areas of practice include advising on all areas of non-contentious trust matters ranging from advising individuals, corporate trustees and private trust companies on their core duties and responsibilities as trustees, in addition to the drafting, review and restructuring of trust structures, including purpose trusts and unit trusts.
Appleby said the event will showcase a variety of themes, with a focus on “entering a new era of private client, the future is inclusive and the future is sustainable”.
The firm and Appleby Global Services -- the specialist trust and corporate services provider -- are gold sponsors of the event.
