Spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said Police were called to the Hamilton bus terminal after fighting broke out around 9 p.m. on Friday night.

Several people were seen running from the bus terminal to escape flying bottles, Mrs. James Barnett added.

Police saw a man being beaten with a bottle, but on seeing the Police the culprits dispersed.

And although the main perpetrator was chased he also escaped.

The victim received a cut above his left eye, but refused medical treatment.

In another incident at the bus terminal, Mrs. James Barnett said four people were beating up a man before Police back-up units arrived.

Police drew their batons and ordered the offenders to quit the attack.

But both the attackers and the victim eluded the officers.

No official complaint was made.

Similar reports of fighting were called in within the hour at various locations in the vicinity, including the Shopping Centre and the Victoria Diner.

Police are appealing to members of the public with information on any of these incidents to contact the Hamilton Police service on 295-0011 or to call the confidential Crime Stoppers Hotline on 1-800-623-8477.
