A major conference focusing on life and annuity reinsurance is to be held next week.

The Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers (BILTIR) is hosting the first Bermuda Life Conference on September 18.

One of the founding directors and president, Chip Gills, said: “We are delighted with the overwhelming response to the Life Conference and to date we have over 120 attendees registered.

“We are also extremely pleased with the growth and evolution of life and annuity companies in Bermuda (also known as the Long Term sector). The sector now represents about 30 percent of the Bermuda insurance/reinsurance market. The Association was formed in June of 2011 to advocate for the life and annuity industry and to provide a consistent and coherent voice for any concerns of the long-term insurance and reinsurance sector in Bermuda.”

The conference will be held at the Southampton Fairmont Hotel next Thursday and will include panel discussions led by industry professional on a host of topics, including life reinsurance and mortality risk; variable and fixed annuities; and Bermuda specific financial reporting.
