Weight 5K closes out race season
Race in St. George's next Tuesday evening, starting at 7.15 (6.45 for walkers).
Last year Tyler Butterfield and Lynn Patchett were first across the finish line to win the Mayor's Trophy, but on weight handicap Steve Donnelly and Glennis Benjamin took the overall honours.
The race is decided by dividing the runners' time in seconds by their weight in pounds, thus favouring the heavier athletes.
Prizes are on offer for first, second and third place on handicap (male and female) and for first across the line.
For the first time this year junior prizes will be awarded on handicap.
The race starts on York Street and takes the runners up Barrack Hill onto Cut Road to Gates Fort and onto to Barry Road and Coot Pond Road. They then turn left up Naval Tanks Hill, along Government Hill Road, turning left into Sapper Lane and along Old Military Road before taking a right down Barrack Hill to York Street and to the finish line on King's Square.
Entry forms should be returned to Sportseller or Winner's Edge no later than 4.30 p.m. next Monday.
