Woolridge claims gold

Bermuda’s kickboxers left their mark on the tenth Pan American Wushu Championships in San Jose, Costa Rica, winning five medals including three gold.
Leading the charge were cousins Jermal and Sentwali Woolridge and Reyel Bowen who all captured gold in their respective divisions. Talia Iris won a silver medal, while Khalid Pitcher snared bronze.
Bermuda’s seven-member squad, which also included Garon Wilkinson, the Bermuda San Shou president, and Samir Furqan, were scheduled to return yesterday.
The Pan American Wushu Championships, involving 23 countries, took place from August 31 to September 8 at the Gimnasio Nacional de Costa Rica.
