Fire engines rushed to the Belco plant on Serpentine Road this afternoon after a fire broke at the facility.

A company spokesman later confirmed that the insulation around the exhaust system of an engine had caught fire at around 3pm, but was quickly contained and extinguished.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.
